DDFC partners with Prestigious Awards and Prizes to support and recognise design excellence and achievements.

DDFC/Vogue Arabia Fashion Prize.

The DDFC/Vogue Fashion Prize is an annual endowment granted to the most promising fashion and accessories design talents in the Arab world. The first of its kind in the region, the endowment was launched in 2015 by Style.com/Arabia, the Middle East’s only Condé Nast fashion and beauty publication, and the Dubai Design & Fashion Council (DDFC), in partnership with the global e-commerce platform Farfetch.

In the Fashion Prize’s inaugural year, 200 different women’s ready-to-wear designers from 15 different countries across the Arab world applied.

Each year, the DDFC/Vogue Fashion Prize awards a winning designer with a package collectively representing US $250,000 in value.

International Woolmark Prize (IWP)

The International Woolmark Prize celebrates outstanding fashion talents from around the globe who showcase the beauty and versatility of Merino Wool. It is the world’s most prestigious award for rising fashion stars. First held in 1953 as an initiative of the International Wool Secretariat, the award was won the following year by iconic fashion designers Karl Lagerfeld and Yves Saint Laurent.

The Regional awards are held in six regions: Asia; Australia & New Zealand; British Isles; Europe; India, Pakistan & Middle East, and the U.S.A. with each regional winner financially rewarded along with the opportunity to compete in global the global finals. Both the Global menswear and womenswear winners will not only receive further financial contribution but also the chance to have their Merino wool capsule collection commersialised and sold in the world’s top boutiques and department stores through the International Woolmark Prize’s extensive retail partner network.

DDFC is the nominating body for the G.CC and the U.A.E. Entry to participate in the International Woolmark Prize is by invitation of The Woolmark Company only. An invitation will be extended to the designers who have been shortlisted by The Woolmark Company from a pool of designers nominated by DDFC.
